House Rules & Regulations
General Conditions

  1. COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAW: The Club shall, at all times, be conducted and operated in strict accordance with all
    applicable laws of the United Kingdom and Wales.
  2. COMMITTEE RULES: No committee or person shall make rules of its own or allow privileges which are adverse to
    the House Rules of the Club.
  3. COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES: Any impropriety of conduct affecting the character of a member, or any
    infraction of these the Club’s Constitution and these Rules and regulations shall be noted by the person in charge of
    the bar, committee member or club officer who shall, if they deem it advisable report the matter to the main
    committee. The Member so offending is liable to disciplinary action under the Club’s Constitution.
  4. FIRST AID and SAFTY: First Aid equipment is available in the starting deck or at the Bar. A list of qualified first
    aiders is displayed on the club notice board in the entrance hallway. If the fire alarm goes off please leave the building
    immediately and go to the assembly point which is the lamp post adjacent to the wash bay in the compound. Do not
    return to the building until instructed to do so.
  5. VAPING: The use of electronic smoking devices (of any type) is prohibited in any place
    where the smoking of tobacco products is prohibited by law.
  6. DRESS AND BEHAVIOUR IN THE CLUB: Generally, dress, behaviour and language must be of
    an appropriate and acceptable standard, and must not cause embarrassment or offence to others. Gentlemen
    members must wear shirts inside the Clubroom.
    Dirty/greasy/smelly/wet/sandy overalls/clothes/shoes/boots, are not acceptable wear.
    Ladies are not permitted to wear very brief two-piece outfits in the Clubroom.
    Members are also expected to control the conduct of children in their care while on Club premises.

    Use of the Club for member’s private functions and by other organisations:
  7. The Club may be used by members for their own private functions for themselves and immediate
    members of their families and guests.
  8. The Main Committee may also consider its use by other clubs, organisations individuals and
    charities, providing that they are not in conflict with the ideals of the Club. This criteria is laid down to prevent the
    Clubroom being over-utilised to the detriment of the fee-paying membership.
  9. Any member individual or organisation that uses any part of the clubs facilitate are responsible for
    returning the rooms that they used in a clean and undamaged condition. In the event that they are
    not returned in an acceptable state a charge will be levied. All items brought on site must be
    removed at the conclusion of the event.
  10. Outside caterers may be used for private parties/functions at the Club, but the Committee retain responsibility and
    control over all catering and drinks provided by the galley and bar.
  11. Applications that require large areas of the club house or the main clubroom or that may be noisy or disruptive to
    others must be submitted to the main committee for approval. The application must be in writing and would be
    required at least one month prior to booking. Any additional costs in running such an event are the responsibility of
    the applicant.
  12. No such functions or meetings may take place in the Clubroom without prior authorisation from the Main
    Committee. After approval an entry should be placed in the club diary.

    Children, Youth members and associated matters:
  13. Children must be accompanied and supervised at all times, they must have an appropriate standard
    of conduct and must be seen to comply with these rules. Parents or persons bringing children into
    the Clubhouse must not allow them to run, romp, play or make disturbing and distracting noises.
    Children are not permitted to sit at the bar in the Clubhouse during busy periods.
  14. Children under the age of 16 are encouraged to use the Youth room after 9pm. If Rule 13 is not being adhered to
    then the bar staff/Committee can extend this rule to ‘Must use the youth room’. Exceptions can be made at the
    discretion of the bar staff/Committee.
  15. Youth Rules: Sailing youth members are allowed to use the main bar for refreshments after sailing under the
    authority of the Sailing Officer of the Day, but only until 10.00 p.m. Youth Members may sign in one guest on a
    sailing/rowing event. Children under the age of 14 may only play on the pool table if accompanied by a responsible
    adult.
  16. Wheelchairs and Pushchairs are permitted in the bar but must not cause an obstruction. Fire exits must be kept
    clear at all times.
  17. Dogs shall be permitted on Club premises and shall be kept under control at all times. Any
    complaints from a member or members concerning a dog’s behaviour shall be addressed to an
    Officer or person in charge of the bar who may, if the behaviour is not bought under control, require
    the owner to remove the dog from the premises. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and not run loose, They
    must not cause a nuisance.
  18. When food is being served absolute strict control of all animals is mandatory.
  19. If a Club user’s dog should foul, it is their responsibility to clear the mess.

    Other Matters:
  20. Members and visitors must discharge all liabilities incurred. If any member or visitor fails to do so, the committee
    or appointed person shall request immediate payment; omission to comply with this
    request shall be deemed a default and render the member liable to expulsion. In the case of a visitor
    such omission shall cause refusal of further entry to the Club premises and will prohibit an application
    for membership until such time as the liability is discharged.
  21. Advertising: Commercial or private advertising must not be displayed in the Club house, except that Members may
    advertise their marine professional services or marine items for sale in a book
    provided for that purpose.
  22. Exceptions: – Firms/companies/individuals that are sponsoring Club events or small posters of
    marine charities or information on other marine clubs. Organisations that are sponsoring an event
    must remove all their advertising material at the conclusion of the event.
  23. Members and visitors must not leave property in the changing rooms overnight or at times when they are not at
    the club. The club reserves the right to remove clothing and all other items left unattended in the clubhouse, changing
    rooms or on club premises. The removed clothing/items if unclaimed shall be disposed of after fourteen days.
